On Sunday 30th November, at Lixnaw Community Centre,  'Lixnaw Community Games 1975 - 2025 Celebrating 50 Years of Participation' Book and DVD set was officially launched. The book, which is a historical record of Community Games in Lixnaw Parish over the last 50 years, focuses on national competitors and winners, as well as previous committees. Along with the book, a DVD was also launched, showing old Community Games reel footage dating back to the 1970's, with some footage from this year's Sports Evening.

Lixnaw Hurling Club was proud to host the first Games 50 years ago and continues to play its small part in what makes the Community Games a key part of the parish's sporting and cultural activities. The Book and DVD is a time capsule of events on those sunny days half a century ago. People, sadly no longer with us, are recognised and fondly remembered, young people at that time are now parents and, dare we say it, grand-parents and this set is a hugely important, nostalgic certainly but also very joyous, snapshot of life in the parish at the time. 

This book/dvd pack 'Lixnaw Community Games 1975 - 2025, Celebrating 50 Years of Participation' is available to buy now for Christmas at the following shops: Foley's (Your Stop), Stacks Londis, Kelly's Six Crosses, Gibbon's Shop and Filling Station, Lixnaw Post Office, Lixnaw Pharmacy and Walsh Meats. Price €25 cash. This will make a nice Christmas present for those at home and abroad, as the dvd is region-free. As stock is limited, please ensure to get your copy as soon as possible, as when they're gone, they're gone! All monies raised goes back into Community Games activities for the parish.
