Our U17s secured their first win of the year at sunny Hermitage Park against a game Abbeydorney/Causeway outfit. Lixnaw started the game with great energy and despite the warm conditions kept a relentless pace throughout. Indeed the constant effort and intensity was a very pleasing aspect of the Lixnaw play. Defensively sound all through, Lixnaw were effective in creating space, making good support runs and regularly finishing with a score.
The game was very competitive throughout but was played in a good spirit. In that context a second half Lixnaw sending off was not typical of the game. The visitors looked to take advantage of the extra man but the home side were able to steady well after a sticky spell and finished the game with a few well-taken scores.
The team showed a huge improvement on their first outing and, with a break in the league for exams, hope to put in work to prepare for the last rounds of the League and the upcoming Minor Championship.
